3 Zusammenfassung Zusammenfassung Im Rahmen dieser Doktorarbeit wurde die Selektivität einer Spacer-gesteuerten Dreifachfunktionalisierung an C 60 überprüft. Die unkontrollierte Mehrfachfunktionalisierung an C 60 liefert ein komplexes Gemisch an Isomeren (acht Bis- Addukte, bis zu 46 Tris-Addukte). Durch die Verwendung eines Spacers werden die reaktiven Gruppen relativ zueinander fixiert; die Addition erfolgt nun regioselektiv. Die Addition eines racemischen Cyclotriveratrylen-(CTV)-basierten Tris-Malonats an C 60 erzeugt zwei Tris-Addukte, die in einer früheren Arbeit als Regioisomere mit den Mustern trans-3,trans-3,trans-3 und e,e,e beschrieben wurden. Da jedoch sowohl das CTV wie auch die beiden in Frage kommenden Funktionalisierungsmuster chiral sind, könnte es sich bei den beiden Produkten um Diastereoisomere handeln. Für eine endgültige Klärung dieser Frage wurde die Synthese mit enantiomerenreinem CTV wiederholt. Der racemische Vorläufer des Malonats wurde mittels HPLC über eine chirale stationäre ase in die Enantiomere aufgetrennt und dann in die Malonate ( )-(P)-103 bzw. (+)-(M)-103 überführt. Bei der Addition von ( )-(P)-103 an C 60 wurden zwei Produkte erhalten (( )-(P)-104a und (+)-(P)-105a), die über unmodifiziertes Si 2 getrennt werden konnten. C 2 Et Me Me C 2 Et C 60, DBU, I 2, Toluol Me Et 2 C Me C 2 Et + Me EtC 2 Me C 2 Et Me Et 2 C ( )-(P)-103 ( )-(P)-104a (+)-(P)-105a Beide Produkte waren optisch aktiv und konnten mittels CD-Spektroskopie untersucht werden. Die Spektren dieser Produkte sind nahezu spiegelbildlich, was auf eine enantiomere Beziehung der Funktionalisierungsmuster ( f,s C, clockwise und IX

4 Zusammenfassung f,s A, anti-clockwise) an den Fullerenen hinweist. Durch den Vergleich mit berechneten Spektren, sowie mit bekannten experimentellen Spektren für andere Tris- Addukte, konnte das Funktionalisierungsmuster und auch die absolute Konfiguration ermittelt werden (( )-(P)-104a ( )-(P, f,s C)-104a und (+)-(P)-105a (+)-(P, f,s A)- 105a). Die Addition von (+)-(M)-103 an C 60 ergab analog dazu (+)-(M, f,s A)-104b und ( )-(M, f,s C)-105b. Es wurde gezeigt, dass die Addition an C 60 komplett regioselektiv erfolgt und ausschliesslich Produkte mit dem Funktionalisierungsmuster trans- 3,trans-3,trans-3 liefert. In einem weiteren Projekt wurden die ersten enantiomerenreinen C 70 -Verbindungen mit einem nicht-inhärent chiralen Funktionalisierungsmuster hergestellt. Ihre Chiralität wird durch die relative Anordnung zweier (oder allgemein mehrerer) nichtidentischer Substituenten verursacht. Durch die Addition des chiralen itril-xids (S)-132 an C 70 wurde ein Produktgemisch erhalten, welches v. a. zwei konstitutionell unterschiedliche α- ((S)-135 und (S)-136) und zwei diastereoisomere β-[70]fulleren-isoxazoline ((S, f,s A)-137 und (S, f,s C)-138) enthielt. Durch das stereogene Zentrum in der Seitenkette war die Auftrennung via mehrstufige HPLC möglich. bwohl Fulleren-Isoxazoline chemisch inert sind und Modifikationen nahe des Heterocyclus schwierig sind, konnte das stereogene Zentrum aus der Seitenkette entfernt werden. Dadurch wurden die α-addukte C s -symmetrisch (achiral), während die beiden β-addukte ( f,s A)-145 und ( f,s C)-145 nun als enantiomere C 70 -Derivate mit einem nicht-inhärent chiralen Funktionalisierungsmuster vorlagen. 5 Zusammenfassung Die chiroptischen Eigenschaften wurden mittels CD-Spektroskopie untersucht. Die Intensität der Cotton-Effekte (Δε bis zu 5 L mol 1 cm 1 ) unterscheidet sich deutlich von derjenigen der chiralen Fullerenkäfige (D 2 -C 76 (1) mit Δε bis zu 320 L mol 1 cm 1 ) oder Derivate mit einem inhärent chiralen Funktionalisierungsmuster (Δε bis zu 380 L mol 1 cm 1 ). 6 Abstract Abstract In this thesis, the selectivity of a tether for the tris-functionalization of C 60 was reinvestigated. The uncontrolled multi-functionalization of C 60 provides a complex mixture of isomers (eight bis-adducts, up to 46 tris-adducts). By the use of a tether, the reacting groups are fixed relative to each other and the addition can now proceed regioselectively. The addition of a racemic cyclotriveratrylene-(ctv)-based tris-malonate to C 60 provides two tris-adducts, the functionalization pattern of which were assigned as trans-3,trans-3,trans-3 and e,e,e, respectively. Because the CTV moiety and both of the functionalization patterns are chiral, the products may also be diastereoisomers. For clarification, the synthesis was repeated with enantiomerically pure CTV derivatives. The malonate precursors were separated via chiral HPLC into enantiomers and then transformed into the malonates ( )-(P)-103 and (+)-(M)-103, respectively. The addition of ( )-(P)-103 to C 60 provided two products (( )-(P)-104a and (+)-(P)-105a), which could be separated on unmodified Si 2. C 2 Et Me Me C 2 Et C 60, DBU, I 2, toluene Me Et 2 C Me C 2 Et + Me EtC 2 Me C 2 Et Me Et 2 C ( )-(P)-103 ( )-(P)-104a (+)-(P)-105a Both compounds were optically active and were studied by CD spectroscopy. The spectra of both products show nearly mirror image behavior, which is a strong hint for an enantiomeric relation of their fullerene functionalization patterns ( f,s C, clockwise and f,s A, anti-clockwise). By comparison with calculated spectra as well as with recorded spectra for other tris-adducts, the functionalization pattern and the absolute XII

7 Abstract configuration of the products were determined (( )-(P)-104a ( )-(P, f,s C)-104a and (+)-(P)-105a (+)-(P, f,s A)-105a). The addition of (+)-(M)-103 to C 60 provided (+)-(M, f,s A)-104b and ( )-(M, f,s C)-105b. It was demonstrated that the addition of CTV-derived tethers to C 60 proceeds with complete regioselectivity and provides products with the trans-3,trans-3,trans-3 functionalization pattern exclusively. In a second project, the first enantiomerically pure C 70 -derivatives with a noninherently chiral functionalization pattern were prepared. Their chirality is caused by the relative arrangement of two (or more) non-identical substituents. By the addition of the chiral nitrile oxide (S)-132 to C 70, a product mixture was obtained, which consists of two constitutionally different α-type ((S)-135 und (S)-136) and two diastereoisomeric β-type [70]fullerene-isoxazolines ((S, f,s A)-137 and (S, f,s C)-138). The stereogenic center in the substituent was essential for the multi-step HPLC separation. Although fullerene isoxazolines are known to be chemically inert and their modifications close to the heterocycle are difficult to achieve, the stereogenic center in the substituent was removed. By this transformation, the α-type adducts became C s symmetrical (achiral), while both resulting β-type adducts ( f,s A)-145 and ( f,s C)-145 formed a pair of enantiomeric C 70 -derivatives with a noninherently chiral functionalization pattern. Previously, such derivatives had only been obtained as racemates. "-adducts #-adducts!
