Die neue Lazaun Umlaufbahn bringt Rodler und Skifahrer auf die Lazaun Pisten und im Frühling laden besonders die Naturschneepisten Teufelsegg und Hintereis zum Sonnenskilaufen. Between early autumn and late spring, skiers find varied ski slopes totaling 30 km in the snow-sure glacier skiing area of Senales Valley. After a rapid descent, a six-minute ride on the Senales cableway takes skiers back uphill to an altitude of 3,212 m a.s.l. 4 Lazaun Umlaufbahn La seggiovia Lazaun The new Lazaun Cable Car Der 1978 errichtete Lazaun-Sessellift wurde im Sommer 2017 durch eine moderne Umlaufbahn des bekannten Unternehmens Doppelmayr AG ersetzt. Die Förderleistung der Bahn, welche 430 Höhenmeter überwindet, liegt bei Personen in der Stunde. In einer der 27 Gondeln erreichen Skifahrer, Rodler und Winterwanderer in knapp vier Minuten bequem und geschützt die Lazaun-Bergstation. Vom Start (2.430 m) weg bieten sich Skifahrern zwei mittelschwere Pisten mit einer Gesamtlänge von rund 3,5 km an sowie eine Rodelbahn mit 3,3 km Länge. Auf Lazaun selbst kann eine Langlaufloipe genutzt werden, die sich je nach Schneelage neben der Bergstation oder der Talstation befindet. In der Lazaun-Hütte werden die Gäste vom Wirt mit traditionellen Gerichten verköstigt und mit einer phantastischen Sicht auf den Weiler Kurzras und auf die Gletscherbahn belohnt. La capacità della cabinovia, che supera 430m di altitudine, è di persone all ora. In una delle 27 cabine, in meno di 4 minuti sciatori, slittinisti ed escursionisti raggiungono comodamente e in modo protetto la stazione a monte Lazaun. Dal punto di partenza (2.430 m) gli sciatori hanno a scelta due piste di media difficoltà di una lunghezza complessiva di 3,5km oltre a una pista da slittino di 3,3km di lunghezza. A Lazaun è possibile usufruire di una pista da fondo, che si trova vicino alla stazione a monte o a valle, a seconda della quantità di neve. Presso il rifugio Lazaun gli ospiti vengono viziati con piatti tradizionali e una vista fantastica sopra il borgo Maso Corto e sulla funivia del ghiacciaio. In summer 2017, the Lazaun chair lift which was built back in 1978 was replaced with a modern cable car by the renowned ropeway manufacturer Doppelmayr AG. The new cable car traverses a change in altitude of 430 metres (1,400 feet) and can transport up to 1,980 passengers per hour. The 27 closed gondolas conveniently take skiers, tobogganers and winter hikers up to the Lazaun mountain station in just under four minutes. The mountain station lies at 2,430 metres (7,970 feet) above sea level and is the starting point of two ski slopes of intermediate difficulty covering a total distance of around 3.5 kilometres (2.2 miles) as well as a toboggan track of 3.3 kilometres (2 miles) in length. Lazaun also features a cross-country skiing trail which, depending on the amount of snowfall, is located by either the mountain station or the valley station. At the Lazaun mountain hut, guests can enjoy delicious traditional dishes prepared by the innkeeper and marvel at the stunning views across the hamlet Kurzras and the glacier lift. 8 9

7 Ötzi Glacier Tour mit Bergführern Jeden Dienstag geht es mit einem Bergführer zur Ötzi-Fundstelle. Im Winter mit Skiern im Sommer zu Fuß. Die äußerst abwechslungsreiche Tagesrundtour quert den Alpenhauptkamm und ist mit ihren landschaftlichen und archäologischen Superlativen nicht nur für Bergliebhaber und Geschichtsinteressierte ein Muss. Unbestrittener Höhepunkt dieser Gletschertour ist die Fundstelle des Mannes aus dem Eis (3.210 m.ü.m.) mit dem faszinierenden Blick auf die Nordflanke des Similaun (3.524 m.ü.m.). Ice & Ötzi 1991 wurde am Tisenjoch unterhalb des Similaun im Schnalstaler Gletschergebiet die über Jahre alte Mumie Ötzi entdeckt. Der sensationelle Fund, in einem der faszinierendsten Täler der Alpen, belegt, dass die Menschen bereits im Neolithikum an die- ser Stelle über den Alpenhauptkamm zogen. Nel 1991, sul Giogo di Tisa, poco sotto il Similaun, fu rinvenuta la mummia Ötzi, risalente a oltre anni prima. 19 La Val Senales e i suoi abitanti non sono legati solo al loro paese, ma anche alle tradizioni: la transumanza delle pecore è una di queste, forse la più spettacolare e impressionante. Già da molti secoli, ogni anno a metà giugno circa pecore e 300 capre dalla Val Senales e dalla Val Venosta raggiungono, oltrepassando il Giogo Alto (2857m) e il Giogo Basso (3019m), i pascoli estivi nella valle di Vent, in Austria. Mandriani, pastori e cani seguono il gregge, e in due giorni percorrono più di 44 km, superando ripidi sentieri rocciosi, nevai, morene ed anche ghiacciai. A metà settembre c è il rientro delle pecore e 300 capre, il più delle volte in condizioni molto migliori. Mandriani, pastori unitamente alla gente del luogo ed ai numerosi turisti vengono accolti con una grande festa. Transhumanz Die Schnalstaler halten auch heute an ihren bewährten, jahrhundertealten Traditionen fest. Eine der spektakulärsten Traditionen ist wohl die berühmte Transhumanz, der alljährlich stattfindende Schafübertrieb im Schnalstal. Der Auftrieb über den Alpenhauptkamm in Richtung Ötztal findet Mitte Juni statt, wenn eine Herde von ca Schafen und eine kleinere Herde von 300 Ziegen über den Hochjochferner (2.857 m) und den Niederjochferner (3.019 m) zu den Sommerweiden im österreichischen Ventertal aufbricht. Begleitet von den Schäfern und ihren Hirtenhunden beginnen die Tiere ihre nicht ungefährliche Wanderung. Die zweitägige Reise verläuft rund 44 km lang zu Fuß über steile Wege und schmale Pfade, über Felsen, Schneefelder und Gletscher. The inhabitants of the Senales Valley are firmly rooted to their ancestral land, as well as to its numerous traditions. Perhaps the most spectacular of these is the annual centuries-old transhumance of sheep. In mid-june every year, a huge flock of about 3,700 sheep and a small herd of 300 goats is led out from the Senales and Vinschgau valleys over the Hochjoch (2,857 m) and the Niederjoch (3,019m) mountains to the summer pastures in the Vent Valley across the border in neighbouring Austria. Working with their sheepdogs, the shepherds and herdsmen watch over the livestock as they migrate over more than 44 km on a two-day journey on foot over steep rocky paths, snowfields, rocky outcrops and glaciers. In mid-september, the reverse migration takes place with the animals generally returning in much improved condition. At its conclusion, the locals and numerous tourists join the herdsmen and shepherds in the celebrations with much fanfare. 23 Summer Trails Panoramaweg Grawand/Croda delle Cornacchie m Ausgehend von der Bergstation der Gletscherbahn erreicht man in nur 15 Minuten die Grawand Spitze und genießt von dort einen fantastischen Ausblick. Man steht am Gipfelkreuz eines Dreitausenders! Von der Grawand Spitze für der Weg Nummer 8 dann weiter über den Grat zum Finailsee und dann durch das Finailtal zurück ins Tal zum Vernagt Stausee. A partire dalla stazione a monte della funivia del ghiacciaio si raggiunge in soli 15 minuti la cima Croda delle Cornacchie, da dove si può godere una vista fantastica ai piedi della croce di vetta di un tremila! A partire dalla vetta del Grawand, prendendo il sentiero n. 8, si prosegue lungo il crinale fino al lago di Finale; quindi, attraversando la Val Finale, si ridiscende a valle fino al lago artificiale di Vernago. The top of the Grawand / Croda delle Cornacchie is just a 15-minute walk from the glacier cable car mountain station. Visitors do not only enjoy breathtaking views, but the chance to stand on a summit well over the three-thousand metres mark! From the summit of the Grawand / Croda delle Cornacchie, trail number 8 passes over the ridge and continues to the Finailsee lake (lago di Finale), before heading back down to the valley via the Finailtal (Val di Finale) and the Vernagt Stausee reservoir (Lago di Vernago). Graue Wand/Croda Grigia m Von der Bergstation Richtung Westen erreicht man in kürzester Zeit (30 Minuten) den Panoramaweg entlang der Grauen Wand und fühlt sich dabei wie beim Wandern auf einem Himmelspfad. Der flache nicht ausgesetze Weg ist auch für ungeübte Wanderer leicht begehbar und bietet eine spektakuläre Aussicht auf die umliegende Bergwelt der Dreitausender. Dalla stazione a monte si prosegue in direzione ovest e in breve (30 minuti) si raggiunge il sentiero panoramico della Croda Grigia: subito sembrerà di camminare sospesi tra i monti! Il percorso, pianeggiante e non esposto, è agevole anche per gli escursionisti meno esperti e offre una vista spettacolare sulle vette circostanti, tutte oltre i tremila metri. The panorama trail along the Graue Wand / Croda Grigia makes hikers feel as if they are walking on the top of the world. It can be reached quickly (within 30 minutes) on foot by heading west from the mountain station. The flat, unexposed trail is also easily accessible to inexperienced hikers and affords spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, including many majestic peaks higher than 3,000 metres. 8 9
