THEMEN Südtirol hat einen hohen Anteil an Grünland- und Viehwirtschaft in den Berglagen. Es werden in vernetzter Form Fragen des Bodens, des Klimas, der Pflanzengesellschaften, der Nährstoffversorgung, der Futternutzung und Futterqualität sowie die Bewertung der Pflanzenbestände auf Wiesen, Weiden und Almen vorgenommen. Vortrag mit PowerPoint mit intensiver Diskussion und anschaulichen Fallbeispielen. Arbeiten im Labor und am Feld (Wiesen, Weiden, Almen) sowie Exkursionen zu Berglandwirtschaften. Präsentationen von Studenten über ausgewählte Fachgebiete. Oberstes Ziel ist es, die Inhalte und die Zusammenhänge zwischen den Sektoren (Landwirtschaft, Forstwirtschaft, Naturschutz, Tourismus, Jagd und Agrarpolitik) in theoretischer wie auch praktisch - angewandter Form zu diskutieren. Die Studenten sollen im Zusammenhang die Berglandwirtschaft verstehen. Der Kurs beinhaltet folgende Themen: 1. Grünlandwirtschaft in den Bergen Südtirols 2. Biodiversität auf Wiesen und Weiden 3. Futterertrag und Futterqualität 4. Kreislaufwirtschaft in den Betrieben und Regionen 5. Perspektiven für die Grünlandbetriebe in Südtirol 14. BASISLITERATUR

COURSE LANGUAGE German 10. DESCRIPTION 11. TEACHING FORMAT and ORGANIZA- TION 12. LEARNING OUTCOMES 13. TOPICS South Tyrol has a high portion of grassland and livestock farming in mountain areas. In a cross-linked form, questions regarding soil, climate, plant communities, nutrient supply, fodder use and fodder quality as well as the evaluation of plant stands on meadows, pastures and alpine pastures will be treated. Lecture using PowerPoint, intensive discussion and descriptive case examples. Work in the laboratory and on the field (meadows, pastures, mountain pastures) as well as excursions to mountain pasture systems. Presentations of selected activities by students. The main goal is, to discuss contents and connections between the sectors (agriculture, forestry, nature protection, tourism, hunting and agricultural policy) in a theoretical as also practical - applied form. The students should understand mountain farming in the context. The course contains the following topics: 1. Grassland management in the mountains of South Tyrol 2. Bio diversity on meadows and pastures 3. Fodder yield and fodder quality 4. Circular economy in farms and regions Perspectives for grassland farms in South Tyrol

It is aimed to provide knowledge and scientific bases for the understanding of ecological functioning of forest ecosystems. The ecological bases will be applied to drive the forest management in order to optimize productive and environmental forest functions. 11. TEACHING FORMAT and ORGANIZA- TION 12. LEARNING OUTCOMES This is a lecture-field course in which topics are presented by the Professor. Practical parts and excursions are explained by the Professor and the Teaching Assistants. Generally Power Point presentations will be available in the course reserve collection database of the Faculty 1 day after each single lecture. Additional material will be provided by the Professor. RECOMMAN- DATIONS Students regularly enrolled at the 3rd year of the Bachelor Study Programme Agricultural and Agro-Environmental Sciences, are allowed to follow this course.
