4 Participants Mansour Ciss (Kanakassy) artist, born in Dakar/Sénégal, working in Berlin and in Dakar. He was trained at the National Institute of Arts in Senegal as a sculptor. He worked on topics of cultural change and transcultural processes in a wide range of materials such as textiles, photography, media, installation and sculpture. He is founder of the Villa Gottfried/Senegal. Exhibitions throughout Europe,e was awarded with the Lauréat du Grand prix LS.Senghor Dak'Art in He is as well founder of the Laboratory of Déberlinisation, since 2001, an exemplary artistic project of delocalization. Catherine David curator, Paris, she has curated exhibitions at Centre Georges Pompidou, Galerie National du Jeu de Paume, Paris, she has been artistic director of documenta X in 1997 and director at Witte de With/Rotterdam. Since 1998 she has been directing the project of Contemporary Arab Representations with exhibitions on Arabic art; she has been curating and publishing widely on art in northern Africa and the near East since 2006, curator of the first participation of Abu Dhabi at the Venice Biennial Rolf C. Hemke is dramaturge for Public Relations and Marketing as well as Administration Manager of the Theater an der Ruhr, Mülheim. Together with Roberto Ciulli he is responsible for the theatre's international work. During the season 2005/2006 he was part of the administrative board of Germany's largest touring theatre, Eurostudio/Konzertdirektion Landgraf. In 2010 he published Theater südlich der Sahara (Theatre in Sub-Saharan Africa). Prof. Dr. Maguèye Kassé Département de Langues et Civilisations Germaniques, Université Cheikh Anta Diop, Dakar/Sénégal, Professor of German studies and sociology, and Commissaire général of Dak Art He has published on historical afro-german relations and cultural politics, on the films of Ousmane Sembène and on questions of art and literature in the process of globalization and intercultural communication.

5 Dr. Thorsten Schüller teaches french and francophone literature at the University of Mainz. Research and publications on theories of culture and postcolonialism, on postcolonial media representation, francophone african literature and popular culture. He has published Wo ist Afrika? Paratopische Ästhetik in der zeitgenössischen Romanliteratur des frankophonen Schwarzafrika, Prof. Dr. Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak Center for Comparative Literature and Society, Columbia University, New York. One of the founders of postcolonial theory, she has published widely on its issues, beginning with Can the subaltern speak?, A Critique of postcolonial reason, 1999, Death of a Discipline, 2003, and Other Asias in She has translated Jacques Derrida s De la grammatologie and she has widely published on feminism and marxism. Nora Sternfeld curator and art theorist, curatorial projects have been Nichts für uns, alles für alle. Strategischer Universalismus und politische Zeichnung in 2007 and Let it be known! Gegengeschichte/n der afrikanischen Diaspora in Österreich, she has been co-curator of the Summit Non-Aligned Initiatives in Education Culture, Berlin 2007 and has published on the topics of learning and teaching in writings of Rancière, Gramsci and Foucault She currently is leading member of ecm educating/ curating/managing, a MA programme in curatorial practice and theory at the University of applied arts Vienna. Sami Tchak Writer with a PhD in sociology; he has published a number of sociological studies on women and sexuality as well as on the AIDS-crisis in Africa. He has been publishing fictional works since His first novel Place des Fêtes appeared in 2001 (german: Scheiss Leben, 2004). For his oeuvre, he received the Grand prix littéraire d Afrique noire in 2004, and for Le paradis des chiots (2006) the Grand prix Ahmadou Kourouma in Sami Tchak lives in Paris.

6 Annette Bühler-Dietrich teaches German literature at Stuttgart university. Recent research on postcolonial literature and theory; together with Francoise Joly head of the project "Where is Africa? Postcolonial Literary Studies and Intercultural Encounter", funded by Denkwerk, Robert Bosch Stiftung. Françoise Joly is teaching French cultural studies at the University of Stuttgart, she has been translating on topics of art history and theory, project leader Voyages d Afrique, University of Stuttgart, and Wo ist Afrika? Postkoloniale Literaturwissenschaft und interkulturelle Begegnungen (Denkwerk Program, Robert Bosch Foundation) together with Annette Bühler-Dietrich. Bärbel Küster art historian, currently Professor at HfG, Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design, art history and media theory. She has published on museum studies in colonial perspectives, on history of photography in Africa and its reception in Europe, migration of art educational concepts, and on anthropology and primitivism (Matisse und Picasso als Kulturreisende, 2003) Saskia Schabio teaches anglo-american literature at Stuttgart University. Recent work is concerned with revisionary readings of modernity and the transnational. In these areas she has coedited two books, Beyond the Black Atlantic, 2006 and Locating Transnational Ideals, 2010.
