In Krems, our unique mindset means that these requirements underlie everything we do an international outlook is a guiding principle in all of our degree programmes. Courses taught in German. Around half of our business degree programmes are held in English, and we have students from around 50 different countries. An international perspective is vital during courses at the university, as well as for internships and semesters abroad. Business and legal modules play a central role. 15 Research Competencies Our applied research influences our teaching At the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems, research and development activities are geared towards finding innovative solutions to the real-life challenges facing business and society as a whole. Our researchers always aim to integrate the knowledge generated by applied research projects into their teaching. IMC Krems students are also closely involved in such projects, and have the chance to write their master thesis on a practical, topical subject related to the University s key research areas. Research areas of the Business Department CSR and Innovation Impact of corporate social responsibility on the different phases of the innovation process in small and medium companies The results of our research will contribute significantly to SME achieving an innovative edge through the involvement of stakeholder groups and getting a head start to tackle current challenges in the sustainability debate. A further focus is the performance measurement of CSR-driven innovation. To support these efforts, the development or adaptation of CSR-oriented controlling instruments for sustainable innovation processes in SMEs is envisaged. Digital Business Transformation The impact of technological innovation of the last 15 years on work and value creation in companies Current research is dealing with the following within the framework of digital business transformation : New methods, work environment and work models (New World of Work) Cooperation models of start-ups and well-established companies (Corporate Entrepreneurship & Corporate Innovation) Transformation processes in companies and organisation design (Enterprise 4.0) tourismfactory Applied tourism research at an academic level, project development for tourism partners and support in the project implementation The tourism factory merges experts, practitioners and students, and considers itself as a think tank of the tourism industry. Focus: Student Research Within the frame of the Tourism and Leisure Management Master degree programmes, numerous course projects are carried out. Moreover, students contribute to the body of research through the creation of their project reports as well as Master theses. These offers are open to full-time and part-time students in both, English and German taught programmes. One of these courses is conducted by Dr. Scott Bristol, former Stanford University Professor. He will be teaching an 'Authentic Influence' course. He describes 'Authentic Influence' as the essential dynamic of interpersonal effectiveness used by successful leaders, managers, and consultants to achieve results. The course aims at learning to use authentic expression to influence meaningful change. 'Authentic Influence' is an updated version of Interpersonal Dynamics which is and has been for many years the most popular class at Stanford's Graduate Business School. 22 Digital Business Innovation and Transformation Target Group Austrian and international students who want to develop specific transformational capabilities that enable them to manage and support digitalisation processes in various corporate environments. Outcome The skills students acquire as experts in business process innovation are based on a combination of business administration expertise with IT and transformation management know-how as well as key competences including communication, cooperation, problem-solving and development capabilities, data mining and design thinking skills. As change agents, our graduates will guide companies into the future. They have the skills needed to coordinate and manage digital transformation in any industry. Furthermore, they will have what it takes to develop new digital business models. 58 STUDENTS' LIFE AND SERVICES Induction DAYS During the Induction Days, IMC Krems freshers receive a wide range of information that makes day-to-day student life much more straightforward. The Induction Days provide guidance for the early stages of a degree. The Get together welcome fair is especially popular, with students able to collect information on the various programmes on offer at the university. Bands, orchestras and sports clubs, the International Language Center, the Career Center and other service centres at the university all join in to welcome the new students. Austrian Students Union (ÖH) at IMC Krems The IMC Krems branch of the Austrian Students Union is the official representative body for all students. It liaises with lecturers, administrative staff, the Rectorate and the Executive Management. The ÖH also provides students with advice on legal, social and financial matters. The union s representatives are democratically elected students who work on behalf of their colleagues at various levels in a voluntary capacity. All students are more than welcome to play a part in the process of representing the interests of the ÖH s members. Sports IMC Krems students can choose from a wide variety of sports activities. Campus Sport offers a host of options for keeping fit as well as for group and team activities. The Campus Sport programme covers eight areas, and courses can be booked at the start of each academic year.
