Document A Die Humboldt Universität zu Berlin (HU) Liebe Studentinnen und Studenten aus dem Ausland A Unsere Universität, die Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, existiert seit 1810 und hat eine lange akademische Tradition. Bekannte Personen wie Karl Marx, Max Planck und Albert Einstein haben hier studiert oder gelehrt. Die Humboldt Universität hat heute elf Fakultäten und zwei Zentralinstitute das Museum für Naturkunde und das Großbritannien Zentrum. Wir haben auch vier Zentraleinrichtungen (ZE): ZE Sprachenzentrum, ZE Computer und Medienservice, ZE Hochschulsport und ZE Universitätsbibliothek. Die Universität hat 18 Graduate Schools und Graduiertenprogramme. Die Uni hat einen Präsidenten (Prof. Markschies), einen Vizepräsidenten für Studium und Internationales (Prof. Nagel), einen Vizepräsidenten für Forschung (Prof. Linscheid) und einen Vizepräsidenten für Haushalt, Personal und Technik (Dr. Eveslage). Wir kooperieren mit vielen internationalen Universitäten, zum Beispiel in Großbritannien, Frankreich, Spanien, Russland, den USA und vielen anderen Ländern B An der Humboldt Universität arbeiten ungefähr 2600 Personen. Mehr als Studenten studieren heute an unserer Universität. 14 Prozent der Studenten kommen aus dem Ausland. Wir haben ungefähr 5000 internationale Studenten aus vielen Ländern der Welt. Jedes Jahr studieren auch ca. 900 ERASMUS Studierende aus 27 Ländern bei uns. Unsere Studenten kommen natürlich nicht nur aus dem Ausland sondern auch aus allen Teilen Deutschlands 15 CONTINUED
3 GERMAN SYLLABUS A LCGE6001 Page 2 aus Bundesländern wie Niedersachsen, Sachsen, Nordrhein Westfalen aber auch aus Thüringen und dem Saarland. Der neue Master Studiengang British Studies am Großbritannien Zentrum ist besonders populär unter deutschen Studenten. C Das deutsche Universitätssystem hat sich in den letzten 15 Jahren sehr verändert. Es gibt jetzt Bachelorstudiengänge (drei Jahre) und Masterstudiengänge (zwei Jahre), aber natürlich auch die traditionellen deutschen Studiengänge. Das Studium ist stärker modularisiert und strukturiert und die Studenten haben mehr Kontakt mit den Lehrern, Dozenten und Professoren. Die Studienzeiten sollen auch kürzer werden. Studenten müssen ihre Studienpläne selbst organisieren. Das Studium in Berlin ist zur Zeit noch kostenlos in anderen Bundesländern soll das Studium etwas kosten das heißt, es gibt Studiengebühren D Das akademische Jahr hat zwei Semester, das Wintersemester vom 1. Oktober bis zum 31. März (Vorlesungen von Mitte Oktober bis Mitte Februar vier Monate) und das Sommersemester vom 1. April bis zum 30. September (Vorlesungen von Mitte April bis Mitte Juli drei Monate). Semesterpausen sind im August/September und im März und sind für Praktika, Selbststudium und Examen. 4 GERMAN SYLLABUS A LCGE6001 Page 3 Document B Das ERASMUS Studium an der Humboldt Universität zu Berlin A Jedes Jahr studieren ungefähr 900 ERASMUS Studenten aus 27 Ländern hier an unserer Universität. Wir hoffen, Sie finden das Studium in Berlin interessant. Wichtige Informationen und Formulare sind: 1. Informationen zum Onlinebewerbungssystem für einen Studienplatz im ERASMUS Programm 2. DUO (Deutsch Online Sprachkurs) 3. Information zum Intensivkurs Deutsch 4. Immatrikulation 1 5 B Die Unterrichtssprache an der Humboldt Universität ist Deutsch. Sie müssen daher gut Deutsch sprechen und lesen können. Testen Sie bitte Ihr Deutsch mit dem Deutsch Test des Sprachenzentrums. Sie müssen 35 bis 50 Punkte im Test bekommen. Sie können auch einen Online Kurs machen, gut ist das Internet Deutsch Lern Portal DUO (Deutsch Uni Online). Das Programm ist speziell für ausländische Studenten, die in Deutschland studieren möchten. DUO kostet nur Euro 95,00, aber Sie müssen den Kurs bis zum bezahlen. 10 C Mit DUO können Sie viel machen: Sie können Ihr Deutsch schon in London verbessern. Sie brauchen nur einen Computer und das Internet, dann können Sie lernen, wann, wo und wie lange Sie wollen. Der Computer muss ein Windows Betriebssystem haben (98, 2000, XP, Vista) und Internet Explorer ab 5.5 oder Mozilla Firefox ab 1.0, der Prozessor muss mindestens ein Pentium 500MhZ mit 128 MB sein D Sie können Lesen, Schreiben, aber auch Hören und Sprechen trainieren. Dabei lernen Sie natürlich neue Vokabeln und üben und verbessern Ihre Grammatik. Tutoren des Sprachenzentrums helfen Ihnen per und Sie können mit Tutoren und anderen Studenten chatten. Sie lernen also nicht allein Sie sind mit anderen Studenten in einer virtuellen Klasse. 25 CONTINUED
