Document A Reiseunternehmen Boom der Billigbusse A Die Mietbuszentrale aus Leipzig darf seit September 2005 Busfahrten nur noch zusammen mit Events oder Übernachtungen anbieten. Doch das Geschäft mit den Billigbussen geht erfolgreich weiter. 1 B Januar 2002: Andrea Raschak, 36, alleinerziehende Mutter aus Leipzig, verliert ihren Job bei der Deutschen Bahn. Aber Nichtstun ist nicht ihr Ding. Sie hat eine Geschäftsidee: Sie will das Konzept von Billigfliegern wie Ryan Air und Easy-Jet auf den Straßenverkehr übertragen und Busreisen quer durch Deutschland günstig anbieten. Die Powerfrau belegt Kurse in Firmenführung, Finanzwesen und Pressearbeit und sucht Geldgeber. Mit Erfolg: Nach drei Jahren hat sie rund Startkapital zusammen C Juni 2005: Andrea Raschak gründet die Mietbuszentrale (MBZ). Jetzt kann man sich bei für Fernbusreisen innerhalb von ganz Deutschland anmelden. Die Tickets kann man nur über dieses Internetportal kaufen und sie kosten ab neun Euro. Allerdings gibt es, ähnlich wie bei den Billigfliegern, nur die ersten 20 Prozent der Sitzplätze zu diesem Schnäppchenpreis. Wer später bucht, zahlt mehr, höchstens aber 39. Zusammen mit zwölf Mitarbeitern, die alle lange arbeitslos waren, bietet Frau Raschak Ausflugsfahrten an, zum Beispiel in den Heidepark nach 15 CONTINUED

Ihre zweite Geldquelle sind Intercity-Angebote: Die Busse bringen die Fahrgäste von einer in die andere Stadt, aber die Fahrt ist nicht mit einem Ausflugsziel oder Event verbunden. Man muss keine Rückfahrt buchen, alle Tickets sind für one-way-fahrten. Mit diesem Angebot erreicht die MBZ besonders Studenten und Schüler, Menschen also, die besonders preisgünstig reisen wollen oder müssen. Die Städtefahrten sind die meistverkauften Reisen der Leipziger Firma. September 2005: Die Mietbuszentrale darf ihre Intercity-Verbindungen nicht mehr anbieten. Das hat das Landgericht Berlin entschieden. Der Grund ist ein Gesetz aus den 60er Jahren: Das Gericht meint, die MBZ-Städtereisen sind eine Art Linienverkehr. Wer in Deutschland Linienverkehr anbieten will, braucht per Gesetz eine Lizenz. Die MBZ hat aber keine, und man kann sie in Deutschland auch nicht so leicht bekommen. Frau Raschak ändert sofort ihre Webseite. Gleichzeitig bietet sie ab sofort aber mehr Ausflugsreisen an (z.b. Fahrten zu Fußballspielen und anderen großen Sportevents) E Oktober 2005: Die MBZ bringt Frau Raschaks neueste Idee, das Konzept Bus & Bett, auf den Markt. Jetzt bekommt man Busreisen ab 9 pro Strecke nur als Hinund Rückfahrt und nur zusammen mit wenigstens einer Hotelübernachtung. Für Hotelfahrten braucht die MBZ keine Lizenz, und auch hier gibt es tolle Schnäppchen: In Berlin öffnet das Generator Hostel, Deutschlands erstes 9-Euro-Hotel. Wer günstig reisen will, kann hier schon ab 9 inklusive Frühstück übernachten. Die Mietbuszentrale bietet täglich Fahrten von München, Stuttgart, Frankfurt und Düsseldorf nach Berlin an. Das ist ideal für Schulklassen, Fußballfans, die zu Hertha BSC wollen, Messebesucher und Musicalfans. 8 GERMAN SYLLABUS A LCGE6001 Page 7 Document B Bräuche Altes und Neues vom Frankfurter Weihnachtsmarkt A Der Weihnachtsmarkt in Frankfurt am Main ist einer der ältesten und größten in Deutschland. Schon im Jahr 1393 hat dort an Weihnachten ein Markt stattgefunden. Zu heutiger Zeit kommen rund drei Millionen Besucher vorwiegend aus dem Rhein- Main-Gebiet, aber manchmal auch aus dem Ausland, in die Frankfurter Altstadt und genießen die weihnachtliche Atmosphäre. An über 200 Ständen kann man leckere Spezialitäten essen, Glühwein trinken, Kunsthandwerkern bei der Arbeit zusehen, Karussell fahren oder Geschenkartikel wie Kerzen, Marionetten, Kinderspielzeug und vielerlei Christbaumschmuck kaufen. Überall gibt es Brenten, Bethmännchen und Quetschemännsche Backwaren, die eine jahrhundertealte Tradition haben. Aus Quellen weiß man, dass schon Goethe und Napoleon diese klassischen Frankfurter Spezialitäten mit Vorliebe gegessen haben B Seit 1922 gehört eine besondere Verkaufsausstellung von Frankfurter Künstlern zum festen Programm des Marktes. Die Künstler wollen hier aber nicht nur verkaufen, sondern auch ihr Können und ihre Kunsttechniken vorstellen und den Kontakt zum Publikum suchen. Es gibt Graphiken, Skulpturen, Ölbilder, Schmuckstücke und Kunstwaren aus Keramik, Glas, Holz usw. zu kaufen. 15 C Seit 1996 wird speziell für den Ausschank von Glühwein auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt eine Keramiktasse produziert. Die Tassen tragen immer ein Frankfurter Motiv: Von 1996 bis 2000 waren bedeutende Gebäude (Römer, Alte Oper, Paulskirche, Dom) abgebildet und 1999, zum Goethejahr, ein Profilbild von Johann Wolfgang Goethe. Von 2001 bis 2003 gab es weihnachtliche Motive (Weihnachtsbaum, Weihnachtsmann und Schneemann) vor einem Bild der Frankfurter Skyline.
