Gefahr.
9 S1-Auswahldaten /-Selection lists Introducing AC Drives for Continuous Operations (S1) Introducing AC Drives for Continuous Operations (S1) 2.1 Typical Demands Typical demands made of a S1 Drive are: continuous operation at constant processing velocities exact synchronous behavior in all production phases, even when running up and braking the machine, if several individual drives are processing a web of material quickest possible standstill of modules with faults or dangerous situations Fig. 2-1: Typical loads of S1 drives Applications Power features of S1 drives Typical applications are drives in machines that process a continuous web of material as is the case in printing machine drives drives used in paper processing machines drives in textile machines drives in packaging machines High continuous torque for production processes covering the entire speed range overload capabilities for the travel-to phase of the machine overload capabilities for an operational braking of the machine and deceleration of the machine in the event of an emergency stop good running behavior
10 2-2 Introducing AC Drives for Continuous Operations (S1) S1-Auswahldaten /-Selection lists 2.2 Physical selection criteria Load torque Acceleration torque Brake torque Drive dimensioning The Selection of a motor/controller combination is based on the physical demands made of the relevant machine. The physical demands result from... The load torque with processing speeds generated by frictional forces, tensional forces, track tensional forces, etc. The motor make available the continuous torque at of an S1 process at the speed(s) needed. The demanded runup time of the machine. The existing process forces must be overcome and the rotating masses accelerated. The drive must make available the demanded acceleration torque shortterm for the duration of the runup. The required decel time for the operational standstill of the machine as well as for emergency stops. The drive must make available the needed decel torque for the deceleration procedure. If deceleration procedures are supported for process forces, then the acceleration process generally determines the required short-term torque of the drive. See "Layout Guidelines for S1 Drives page Mechanical selection criteria Precision and mechanical coupling The demands for accuracy made by a specific machine axis determines the type of coupling unit of the motor. The mechanical coupling, in turn, determines the construct of the motor. The measuring system, which determines mounting location and type of motor coupling unit, determines the precision at the relevant machine axis. Fig. 2-2: Precision and motor coupling - an overview

19 S1-Auswahldaten /-Selection lists Explanations of the Selection Lists Explanations of the Selection Lists 4.1 Torque characteristics of AC Motors S1 operation of motors A characteristic of S1 drives is the continuous operations at a stationary processing speed to overcome a largely constant processing force. The continuous torque of the AC motor that can be output depends on the stationary speed at which the relevant motor is to be operated. Fig. 4-15: Continuous torque characteristics of Rexroth Indramat AC motors with characteristic points for a selection list in the form of a table
20 4-12 Explanations of the Selection Lists S1-Auswahldaten /-Selection lists 4.2 Physical Viewing of S1 Drives and Layout Guidelines Comparison between S1- / S6 modes of motors The present selection data of Rexroth Indramat relates to AC servo and AC main spindle drives of machine tools. Cyclical loads with high overloads (S6 modes) primarily take place in machine tools. The present selection data are thus only insufficiently suited for a quick selection of S1 drives as these data are specific to drives in S6 modes. S1 continuous mode S6 short-term mode Type of load Motor temperature curve Motor layout Fig. 4-16: Stationary load load duration >> thermal time constant of motor High average temperatures Only slight temperature changes (as temperature level is high) with short-term load possible. Thermal recuperation after temporally limited shortterm load with breaks or continuous operations at 90% of motor continuous torque. Continuous oper. torque not exceed 90% of motor continuous torque so that thermal reserves for accel and decel processes are given. cyclical load, cycle duration < thermal time constant of motor Low average temperatures. Extreme temp. diff. occur as cyclical mode with high overload within context of % On time. Thermal recuperation due to breaks within context of % ON time. RMS torque of cyclical load must be smaller or same as motor continuous torque. Comparison between continuous and short-term operating modes
21 S1-Auswahldaten /-Selection lists Explanations of the Selection Lists 4-13 S1 Mode The physical variables of motor speed, torque and temperature is as follows for S1 mode: Layout Guidelines for S1 Drives Advantageous drive selection Fig. 4-17: Variables for S1 drives Motors with drive shafts (MHD, 2AD, ADF) should be operated in a speed range of 1500 and 3000 min -1. This ensures, with most motors, an operation within a favourable power range, i.e., motor size is minimum and the extent of effectiveness is maximum. Note: Low motor output speeds should be increased by means of the gear ratio! 1 st rule on S1 drive layout The load torque of the S1 process reduced to the motor output shaft may not exceed 90% of the continuous torque of the drive! M Prozess < 0.9*M dn2 M Prozess: load torque of the S1 process M dn2: maximum allowable continuous drive torque as per S1 selection list Fig. 4-18: Layout criteria of continuous operations This rule ensures that the drive has sufficient thermal reserve to accel or decel with the specified short-term torque (see section 4.3, Explanation of the selection list columns).
22 4-14 Explanations of the Selection Lists S1-Auswahldaten /-Selection lists The maximum allowable drive continuous torque with process speeds of the motor output shaft is specified in the selection lists for the relevant speed ranges! Operating durations exceeding 15 minutes is for drive S1 mode! S1 Mode: t Prozess > 15 min t Prozess: operation duration Fig. 4-19: Evaluation criteria for S1 mode 2 nd rule for S1 drive layout The drive must have sufficiently high short-term torque for accel and decel time of the machine! M Beschl.,max bzw. M Brems < M kz(60s) for t 60s M Beschl.,max bzw. Fig. 4-20: Layout criteria for accel/decel torquet Note: In the case of regulated accel or decel procedures, the maximum short-term torque must exceed at least 10% of accel torque! 3 rd rule for S1 drive layout If machines demonstrate higher load torques in the case of a cold runup, in comparison to the S1 mode (warm state), then the continuous drive torque must be greater than the rms load torque of the first fifteen (15) operating minutes reduced in terms of the drive shaft! M last_eff,k < M dn2 M last_eff,k : RMS load torque, reduced to drive shaft, with cold runup within min. If parameter P , cooling type is adapted to the actual applied cooling of the MHD,MKD and MKE motor, parameter P has to set according to the formula: P = SB(11) 100% / Cooling factor Fig. 4-22: Calculation of P , if P >0 The cooling factor depends on the adjustment of parameter P and depending upon the applied motor cooling it can be adjusted as follows: applied motor cooling P , Cooling type Cooling factor natural 0 100% surface 1 150% liquid 2 190% Fig. 4-23: Calculation of cooling factor The value specified for a drive must be entered in parameter P , so that both continuous and short-term data are available. Note: Drives with 2AD and ADF motors need premagnetization factor P of 100%! Power supply module (12) n 0 (13) M d0 (14) Power supply module for which the drive data are available. If the supply module has a specified mains voltage, then data are valid within a voltage drop of 5%. Upper level for Zero speed detection. Below n 0 torque M d0 (14) is available, above, M dn2 (4). Continuous torque available at motor standstill and up to the maximum Zero speed (n 0 ). Depending on the drive controller, M d0 (14) may be smaller than M dn2 (4)!
