2 Module Component Description a) Business English The reference level of this module is C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) After successful completion of this component, the students are able to: Recognize and apply basic marketing terms Understand and discuss authentic texts from business journals Use grammatical structures correctly in business contexts Avoid common grammatical and lexical mistakes Participate effectively in business meetings Present a clearly-structured business presentation using rhetorical techniques Write business letters/ s Write a CV, letter of application or letter of motivation - Basic marketing terms - Exploitation of authentic texts from business journals - Revision of grammatical structures within business contexts and common grammatical and lexical mistakes - Language of business meetings - Presentation structure, language and techniques (voice, body, rhetoric) - Business letters/ s - Job applications Taught classes based on communicative group activities integrating all 4 skills (reading, writing, speaking & listening) Common European Framework of References for languages (CEF B2) - 1 presentation with written component set during course (1sbR - 60%) - 1 written assignment set during course (1sbH- 40%) - Several non-graded assignments set during course (1sbH) - All assignments must be passed in order to pass the course. 3 Module Component Description b) Chinesisch 1 (Mandarin) After successful completion of this component the students are able to: Recall basic vocabulary for everyday use and vocabulary related to university and degree course Outline basic information of Chinese culture and economy On completion of the course the students should have an introductory level of the Chinese language (Mandarin) regarding: Differentiate pronunciation Construct fluency and listening comprehension Identify four different tones Understand basic grammar rules and rules of pictograms Carry out introductions, greetings, and small talks Use everyday phrases Talk about the university and own degree programme - Greetings, introductions, conversation in every-day-life - Basic speaking, reading, and listening skills - Conversations on study and university - Number Basic knowledge about China - Grammar Im Unterricht wird grundsätzlich einem auf Kommunikation basierenden Ansatz gefolgt. 7 Module Component Description f) Multicultural Team Dynamics After successful completion of this component the students are able to: define and describe salient aspects of team working, with special emphasis on the multicultural environment identify and evaluate own and other s contribution or non-contribution to creating alignment in the group apply various techniques to facilitate task achievement within a harmonious working atmosphere 4. Analysis After successful completion of the module students are able to: evaluate and differentiate between alternative approaches in multicultural teamworking analyze group behavior processes 5. Synthesis After successful completion of the module students are able to: identify obstacles to effective teamwork and create synergies for success time management in a team identification of the life cycle of a team differentiation between working groups and teams analysis of salient behaviours and underlying values within multicultural environment of IBM programme developing awareness of additional knowledge, sensitivity and skills needed to work in multicultural teams Taught classes using in-class simulations and discussions.
