I received my Ph.D. (Dr. rerum politicarum) from the University of Bamberg under supervision of Prof. Dr. Detlef Sembill. The monograph is entitled Erleben und Lernen am Arbeitsplatz in der betrieblichen Ausbildung [Emotion and learning in the workplace within in-firm vocational education and training]. Besides my dissertation project, I have constantly engaged in other projects that provide the basis for numerous contributions to conferences and a growing number of publications. My current research interests focus on the development of a computer-based instrument for assessing problem-solving competences in the field of office work. This project, to which I was co-applicant, is sponsored by the German Ministry of Education and Research. Further research interests are on emotions and learning in the workplace (including methodology; especially diary methods), the evaluation of in-firm training, educational management, and E-learning. In the future, I would also like to expand my experiences with classroom research, since it is a core area of the department that I am currently affiliated with. As a result of my work experience and the formal as well as informal education I received, I feel very well prepared to take on research and teaching responsibilities.
