Document A Eine kleine Liebesgeschichte A B C Ich kann mich noch genau an den Tag erinnern, als Elisabeth zu mir kam und sagte: Volker, ich habe ein Problem. Kannst du mir vielleicht helfen? Worum geht es denn? Du weißt, dass ich seit letztem Jahr einen festen Freund habe. Deshalb hast du auch so lange nichts von mir gehört. Er heißt Hans. Seit ein paar Monaten ist er arbeitslos. Aber jetzt hat er die Chance, in seinem Beruf als Entwicklungshelfer in Afrika Arbeit zu bekommen. Nur Sag schon, was du auf dem Herzen hast. Ich weiß nicht, was ich mit meinem Kater machen soll. Und da dachte ich, dass du vielleicht Ängstlich sah sie mich an. Kein Problem. Das glaubte ich jedenfalls in diesem Moment. Ich konnte doch nicht ahnen, dass der Kater Coquelicot mein ruhiges Junggesellenleben auf den Kopf stellen würde. Katzen waren mir egal. Hunde, ja. Mit Hunden hätte man sich anfreunden können. Eine Woche später brachte Elisabeth den Kater zu mir. Sie trug ihn in einem Korb. Die Katzentoilette brachte sie auch gleich mit; wir stellten sie in das Badezimmer. Der Fressnapf kam in die Küche. Elisabeth gab mir noch ein paar Ratschläge, streichelte den Kater und flüsterte ihm Worte ins Ohr, die ich nicht verstand. Dann musste sie gehen. Ich war wieder allein. Die ersten paar Tage sah ich den Kater kaum, aber ich wusste, dass er da war: Das Katzenfutter war weggefressen. Ich musste die Toilette saubermachen. Und ich musste mein Sofa reparieren. Der Kater hatte offenbar daran gekratzt. Ich war sauer. Am liebsten hätte ich den Kater zurückgegeben. Aber wem? Elisabeth war in Afrika CONTINUED

Er näherte sich, Meter für Meter, Zentimeter für Zentimeter; aber anfassen konnte ich ihn nicht. Ich versuchte mit ihm ins Gespräch zu kommen. Ohne Erfolg. Oder doch? Ich hatte den Eindruck, dass sein Desinteresse nur gespielt war. Seine Augen folgten meinen Bewegungen, seine Ohren waren dorthin gerichtet, woher meine Stimme kam. Nach weiteren vierzehn Tagen folgte er mir: ins Wohnzimmer, ins Arbeitszimmer, ins Badezimmer, am liebsten aber in die Küche. Mein Schlafzimmer wurde auch sein Schlafzimmer. Jetzt konnte ich ihn anfassen, auf den Arm nehmen und streicheln. Er schnurrte wie eine Nähmaschine. Oder wir tauschten die Rollen und ich folgte ihm. Ich wollte wissen, was er machte, wo er war. In meinem ganzen Leben habe ich noch nie so oft auf dem Boden gelegen und unter Sofas, Betten oder Sessel geschaut, um zu sehen, wo er liegt E Ich kaufte Katzenbücher. Ich las Schriftsteller, die über Katzen geschrieben hatten. Ich sprach mit Katzenbesitzern über ihre Lieblinge und ich besuchte eine Katzen- Ausstellung. Ich wollte so viel wie möglich über die faszinierenden Vierbeiner in Erfahrung bringen. 40 F Und dann fing Coquelicot an, mir seine Bedürfnisse mitzuteilen. Was ich dich schon lange fragen wollte: Warum gibt es so selten Fisch? Er ist gesund und schmeckt gut. Mein Lieblingsfisch ist übrigens Thunfisch, frischer Thunfisch, versteht sich. Ich weiß, dass du Junggeselle bist und oft lange im Büro bleibst. Aber kannst du nicht trotzdem die Wohnung besser sauber halten? Ich hasse Staub und Schmutz. Und öffne doch bitte die Fenster, wenn du eine Zigarre rauchst! Oder gehe auf den Balkon. Am besten, du rauchst gar nicht mehr. Es ist schädlich für deine Gesundheit und für meinen Geruchssinn. So sprachen wir oft über wichtige Dinge im Leben. Oder hatte ich das alles nur geträumt? Vorsichtshalber kaufte ich Fisch, frischen Thunfisch G Letzte Woche kam ein Brief von Elisabeth und ihrem Freund, den sie inzwischen geheiratet hat. Sie schreibt, dass sie und Hans bald nach Deutschland zurückkommen werden und Coquelicot wieder zu sich nehmen möchten. Was soll ich tun? 7 GERMAN SYLLABUS C LANG0G03 and LANG1G13 Page 6 Document B Tiere im Krankenhaus A B C Tiere im Krankenhaus, wo gibt es denn so etwas? In einem Erlanger Krankenhaus zum Beispiel. Dort steht nicht nur auf jeder Station ein Aquarium. In und um das Krankenhaus herum leben drei Hunde, 30 Schafe, mehrere Katzen, etliche Meerschweinchen, zwei Papageien und rund 50 andere Vögel. Im Operationssaal oder auf der Intensivstation haben Tiere natürlich nichts zu suchen. Auf dem Klinikgelände können sie aber helfen oder wenigstens unpersönliche Krankensäle wohnlicher machen. Auch in Rehabilitationszentren, Psychiatrien und Altersheimen können Haustiere für menschlichere Verhältnisse sorgen. Niemand hat daran gedacht, in der Erlanger Klinik Tiere einzuführen, bis eines Tages verwilderte Katzen auftauchten. Es kam zu einem Streit darüber, was man mit ihnen machen sollte. Schließlich wurde entschieden, die Katzen auf dem Klinikgelände zu halten. Kurz danach nahm die Klinik dann auch noch 25 Schafe auf. Der Umgang mit Tieren kann das Wohlempfinden der Patienten steigern. Denn Tiere unterscheiden nicht zwischen gesunden und kranken Menschen und lassen sich von jedem streicheln. Alle Patienten können sich akzeptiert fühlen. In der Fachliteratur sind Fälle bekannt, in denen Haustiere bei der Therapie geholfen haben. Hunde, Katzen und Vögel halfen vor allem Patienten, die jeden Kontakt zur Außenwelt abgebrochen hatten. Den Tieren gelang, woran die Ärzte scheiterten: Sie durchbrachen die Isolation beispielsweise psychisch Kranker. Zu dieser Entdeckung kam es durch Zufall: Ein Kindertherapeut hatte vergessen, vor der Sprechstunde seinen Hund aus dem Zimmer zu schicken. Der Hund begrüßte stürmisch den Patienten, einen kleinen Jungen, der völlig in sich zurückgezogen lebte. (5 points) [Reading Competence: 5 points] [Linguistic Competence: 0 points] In und um eine Klinik in Erlangen leben verschiedene Tiere, u.a. Hunde, Schafe, Katzen, Fische, Vögel. Für diese ungewöhnliche Situation gibt es zwei wichtige klinische Gründe: Erstens sollen die Tiere das Leben in der Klinik machen und zweitens kann die Beziehung zwischen Mensch und Tier das der Patienten verbessern. Die Tiere leben auf dem Gelände der Klinik, aber sie dürfen natürlich nicht in den oder auf die. RC LC Der Umgang mit Tieren kann besonders für psychisch Kranke sehr positiv sein. Man weiß aus der, dass Haustiere bei Therapien helfen können. Dies ist ganz besonders der Fall bei Patienten, die keinen mehr haben und deshalb sehr isoliert leben.
