Beispiel zu Umkehrfunktionen des Sinus Die Funktion f : [ π, π ] [, ], x sin(x) besitzt die Umkehrfunktion f Arcsin (Hauptzweig des Arcussinus). Wir betrachten die beiden Funktionen g : [ 3 π, 5 π] [, ], x sin(x) und h: [ 3 π, π] [, ], x sin(x). Wir konstruieren nun die Umkehrfunktionen g und h mit Hilfe des Hauptzweigs f Arcsin. Die Funktion g geht aus f durch Verschieben um π nach rechts hervor, h durch Spiegeln an der Geraden x π. Da f bijektiv ist, sind es g und h auch. Deshalb existieren g und h. Für jedes x [ 3 π, 5 π] gilt aufgrund der π-periodizität des Sinus y : g(x) sin x sin(x π [ π, π ] ) f(x π). Daher sind x g (y) und x π f (y), woraus g (y) f (y) + π folgt.
